i had one of those heartbeat monitors during my first pregnancy and NEVER heard my son’s heartbeat on it. if you have one of those expensive dopler ones like the doc uses then you should be able to hear it in a week or so if your thin..

chances are if they couldnt see it on a regular abdominal ultrasound in the beggining it just means you were a little too early to see. as long as they seen it on there all together then dont worry!!

Your doctor knows what he’s doing! I heard my baby’s heartbeat at 17 weeks and the doctor said that was early so I must have a strong baby. Just be patient

Wish I could help more, but there are some medical reasons why the doctor wants to wait, probably because it takes time and money to do the pregnancy stuff and he only wants to do it when he knows the results he will get are accurate. Like, maybe he can’t tell if the baby if healthy or not from it’s heart beat this early on, so he wants to wait.

I didn’t hear the heartbeat for my oldest son until about 4 months along. Don’t worry – everything will be fine. Ultrasounds are different for everyone – trust in God and your doctor to take care of it. And take care of yourself as well.
Best of luck with your pregnancy!

STOP, those things are useless!! your doctor said this because he wont be able to pick the heart beat up until then with his equipment, you should have seen/heard the heart beat when you had an u/s though. the thing you bought you will be lucky if you can hear the heart beat in you 3rd trimester yup not kidding sorry and even then it is hard to get it most of the time you hear your heart beat or hear you intestines working (gas) just return it if you can you will be disappointed!! CONGRATS!!

are you overwieght. maybe thats why they couldn’t see it . that happens sometimes. if your thin then i dont know why execpt maybe the u/s was too early. I saw my baby at 8 weeks on a normal u/s and heard the h/b at 13 weeks last week on a doppler at my first prenantal appt.

im going to get one for home too

maybe you dont have it in the right spot. under the belly button?

    goodluck

just be patient everthing comes with time

The baby can hide and scoot away. Its so little right now and can be difficult to find. The doppler home heart beat machine wont work as well till you get farther along.

i first heard my baby’s heartbeat at 16 wks.
