How am i supposed to find out when a young baby is sick?

The reason for this is i have a baby and its my first baby and am all alone taking care of this baby not with its careless mother.So i normally failed to understand when the baby is not in proper order health wise.So, what should i take as important if am to bring up my baby in a healthy condition?

any tempratures or vomiting or extreem uncontrolable crying. are all bad signs
it all sonds scary but most of the time its fine an just gas that makes them cry! just make sure baby doesnt get to hot and doesnt have alot of balankets around its and get some books or check out some parenting web sites/ single dad/ single parent web sites and groups

okay—– sickness. you will look for one or more of the following signs to know if its time to go to the hospital:
yellow skin, eyes
dark black poop (blood)
crying for more than 3 hours straight
loud wheezing sounds/ not breathing adequately
fever of 102 and up
rash spreading all over
chronic cough
no sleep for more than 15 hours
vomiting/ diarrhea for more than 2 days causing weight loss
it doesnt hurt to call a nurse line too. check to see if your insurance has a 24 hr. nurse on call
that was all like… er stuff. general concerns such as slow weight gain, interrupted sleep… thats good stuff for an appt. with a pediatric doc.
